Where to find good shift boot for CJ

Everyone who has had a CJ with the little round boot on the tranny gear shift knows what I am talking about when I say "it is torn again..." anyone found a good one that I might be able to track down? the standard places Qtrack, 4wdh, etc aint the right answer. is there one out there for another vehicle that works well for the CJ? or maybe a later model YJ or TJ? Thanks in advance!

I know what you mean, they are junk. I hunted around at a junkyard until I found one that I could make work, came off some Japanese car, they said just take it. Had it for a few years, still OK. Just had to drill a few new holes in the tunnel cover. Also, you will find that the ribs in the stock cover interfere with the shifter with a body lift.

I use 2 separate boots, the one for the transfer shifter I snagged out of an '85 Geo Spectrum (Isuzu I-mark is the same car). It works great, seals well, and hasn't cracked at all. Just wind in some self drilling screws to hold it down.

OK, now you got 2 old Jeepers using Japanese car shifter boots in their Jeeps, so it must be OK!

I used a shift boot from an 84 Ford Tempo. We had the car since new and it had 220,000 miles on it when we gave it to the junkyards last year...still ran too! I took everthing I could off of it before letting it go and the shift boot has proven great!
