This sounds kinda fishey

I was calling around the other day tring to find some stronger axles for my cj well i talked to one fellow he said he had a set of dana 44 with 4.10 gears and only wanted 500.00 dollars for them!!!!!! The first thing i said was "whats wrong with them?" he said nothing. He also told me that they were stock for a jeep. I questioned him about that cause i thought that they were out of a waggoner.I didnt think that dana 44s came in the front of a cj?? am i right? Is there anything that i can ask this fellow that will help me find out more about these axles. I just want them to fit under my cj-7 what is the over all length for a stock dana 44 in a cj. I also know that the dana 44 came in the rear of a few 86 cjs. any help would be app. I am going to a SOA with 35s and i have stock axles (probley wont hold up long).

You are correct. No D44's were every put in the front of a CJ, and none of the other 44's fit without some mods. Also, $500 seems a little steep to me, I'm selling a whole Scout II with 3.54's and D44's for $200, and it runs well (304 V-8), just needs some body work.
