Anyone know what this TH400 is from?

hey all, I have this TH400 case which I have no need for. However, Since I am actually unclear of what it came out of I don't know who needs it. I have been told that it is probably a Pontiac TH400. Is this true? Any help would be helpful. Also, What would be a good price to ask for this case? Thanks for your help.

Re: Anyone know what this TH400 is from?

the holes on the top arent close enouhg to be an AMC case ( unless its an early 70s that used that cast iron adapter between engine/tranny)

probably that or some G.M. application.

is it 4x4 on teh output end?

Re: Anyone know what this TH400 is from?

It is not a shevolay. I am 100% certain of that. I have one of those under the Jeeplab bench #1 and jus looked at it to confirm. It is NOT shevolay.

I am 90% certain that it is NOT BOP. That stands for Buick, Olds, Ponticac. They all used the same case back in the old days. The BOP, IIRC, is scooped out on the top and has a different bolt pattern and measuements and also has the starter on the other side than the shevolay. So that part is similar at least.

I would guess that it is a Cadillac model. There are less of them around of course and that may be why it is not easily recognized.

Regardless of that, though, it probably is worth exactly nothing at all. It is weathered, has no matching interior components and is probably in that condition for a very good reason. (It is broke/cracked/tweaked/leaks/??????)

By the way, it could also be a Rolls Royce. Yes, the auto in the Rolls and Aston Martins was a TH400. May still be for all I know. There used to be a lot of GM parts in Rolls Royce products.

Sorry I mean Wagoneer or Jeepster I thnk. They used a style like that with an adapter ring. With the ring it will bolt up to a Buick.

Re: Anyone know what this TH400 is from?

Its empty cause I removed the good guts and put it in a chevy TH400 case. Thats why its empty. Its weathered cause I have it sitting outside in the weather. So, your right - there's a good reason why its in this condition.

Re: Anyone know what this TH400 is from?

Yeah, the D20 adapter is currently swapped onto my chevy TH400 thats in my jeep.

There was an adapter ring which came with this trans for a AMC. But if someone was to ask me what this th400 bolts to (without any adapter) what would you say?

THanks.
