How to reinstall knuckles Dana 44?

I'm getting ready to put my front 44 back together and need to know the procedure and torques for reassembly of the knuckle. My plan was to slide it in there and to torque the hell out of things; but upon further cosideration that may not be such a good idea. I didn't move the little thingies threaded into the top hole(sorry for the technical terminaology); do I need to buy the special socket and retorque that or what?

Thanks,
Max

Re: How to reinstall knuckles Dana 44?

ive had the same question, and sort of still do, ive Gotten conflicting advice, and now IM really confused!

I DID remove the screw in adjusters, so Im really gonna be whacked.

ive heard from a few folks, you torque the bottom balljoint to spec, then torque the adjuster sleeve to 50 lbs ( I think fuzzy memory) and then torque the top to spec, this exact same question has a few answers right now on teh Pirate Bbs

Re: How to reinstall knuckles Dana 44?

You install the lower stud and tighten the nut to 70-90 ft/lbs. The threaded insert is then installed to 50 ft/lbs and the upper nut to 100 ft/lbs. You will need the special socket for the insert or you can make your own out of a cheap socket. The only place I found that had the special one was off of the Mac Tools or Snap On truck. I borrowed a friends. Good luck.
