TR upgrade

I got all my parts and I was wondering if there was an easy way to get to the springs? And once I get them off, how do I get them back on? I can only get the plat to lift about 3/16 of an inch. I can barely see the springs and they look like that is what is holding the plate down. Do I have to change to get the most benefit?

[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif[/img] You can get to the springs by pushing out the pin which holds the gear on the shaft. The shaft will then slide up and you can get to the springs. Use white out to mark the shaft and the gear before you dismantle them.[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif[/img] Also, look to see if you are going to need a "pecker" to locate the cap adapter. Some distributors don't have a piece sticking up to engage the notch and keep the cap adapter from rotating.[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

Just wondering about the springs.. what exactly do they do on the distributor? And why does it help so much.

I think most of the benefit is from the coil, cap, rotor and plug wires. I think changing the springs tweaks it for optimal results. Do a search, in some of TeamRush's posts, he discussed this. I did everything but the springs and it runs great.
