Several of them have a small nut in the center of the round hole cover thinggy that has a small groove in the nut that you put a very small screwdriver & spin counterclockwise, you have to have pulled the knobs off first, then you push the assembly out the back of the dash.

Im sure they all have name, but I prefer thinggy & dodad

Re: Need help asap.Taking off dash

if it is the same as a 1983 cj the three knobs that control the air flow into the cockpit must be removed from the backside of the dash. disconnect the cables from the air mixer box at the three locations then you can squeeze the black plastic thing up against the dash together toward the center. turning it a little seeems to help, then you pop it thru the dash and pull the cable thru in one piece. the others should have tiny set screws that hold them on, use a jeweler's screw driver to loosen them and the rest you will see is obivous(sic)
good luck and patience

Project 83 CJ-7 goal is somewhere between extreme and obnoxious
