Front Brake question

I currently run front discs on my Dana 30 and I have the 2 bolt caliper bracket that the caliper mounts to. I plan on going to a high clearance steering setup using some flat top knuckles and they require the use of the 6 bolt caliper bracket to mount the caliper. If I understand correctly the 6 bolt caliper bracket was used on the early model CJs with bigger calipers which in turn was used in conjunction with a thicker rotor (1-1/4" rotor vice the 7/8" rotor I have). My question is if I go with using the 6 bolt caliper bracket will I still be able to use my smaller calipers and rotors?
