Where to find ultimate rear axle?

I'm looking for a 35-splined, full-floating D-60 rear axle in Florida. I've had no such luck so far and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find one, or knew what truck to look under in the junkyards that would yeild this axle.

Axle width doesn't matter since I have no qualms about running full-size axles at first and cutting things down later.

I'll make a few more calls tomorrow and may end up with a full-floating 14-bolt to offer in trade. I want a D-60 to match the front axle so I dont have to carry as many spare parts.

Re: Where to find ultimate rear axle?

i have never seen one. i would have liked to had one but i went with a 14bolt. one of the 62" wide versions. you want a 60 rear because you don't want to carry as many spare parts? what would you carry that would be the same between the front and the rear other than the diff and r&p?

With either axel, I doubt you'll need spare parts, unless your running about 600hp <g> . Good luck in you search

Re: Where to find ultimate rear axle?

Not 600HP, but things will end up with over 200:1 gearing and tires 38" or larger.

As for carrying spare parts, I didn't mean just in the Jeep for emergency on-trail repairs. Having parts around the house that would fit either axle, (like bearings, carriers, un-bashed diff covers, brake parts, etc.) would be nice.
That and I hate Chevy axles...an unfounded emotion I am sure .
