Fuel tank replacement ideas needed.

Well, I just finished pulling the tank from my CJ. It had a rather large dent in the middle! Not only the skid plate but the plastic tank also! My tank is the 20 gallon factory upgrade. What I am looking to do is replace it with a smaller tank. Right now the tank comes in contact with the diff cover on my 44. I will be moving the 44 back about an inch or so in the near future. So the tank must go! What are you guy's doing for fuel tanks? I am not sure of the demensions on the factory 15 gallon tank. Is it shorter front to back? I am also considering a fuel cell, but I don't want to get rid of back seat. (my son would be upset) Does anyone know of a low profile 13 gallon or so tank that will fit? Thanks for any ideas.

Re: Fuel tank replacement ideas needed.

Try the folks at trailquest. My guess is they'd make one custom for you, might be big $$$ though. They have a rockcrawler tank that is 18 gallons for about $375. 1/8" walls and 5/16 bottom. Fits in the same space as the 15 gallon tank. I believe they've done really small (like 4" tall) tanks for some ARCA type wheelers.

Not the best option, but if no one else has any better solution, this is one you can check out anyway.

Re: Fuel tank replacement ideas needed.

i just gave my 15 gallon tank to Jerseywheeler. He is on board during the week. Check with him to see if he will take a few measurements off of it for you. Wish i could help more.
