Where do I find a wooden palate?

Where would be my best bet on finding a wooden palate for shipping my axles? Think it'd be possible to fit in the trunk of a car? Thanks!

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

You can find them at about any businsess that gets truck shipments. Were i used to work we would cut them up all the time because we couldnt get rid of the odd size ones. Just go knock on some doors and i am sure you will have one within 5 mins. It better be one big car to fit it in the trunk.

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

I just brought one home this evening. It's in perfect shape, minus minor scuffing from use. Pick up the shipping and it's yours, I'll send it right out.

This is a joke. Just had to add that for the people who take life a little too seriously.

Grocery stores are a prime candidate, they get shipments every night and crush their trash but put the pallets out back.

Try a hardware store. The ACE I work at has a million of em. I'm sure the depot and menards do too.

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

Go to the trucking co. you plan to ship with ,or call them and ask if they have any laying around they usually throw them out especially odd sized ones.

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

BTW the strongest pallets I have ever seen are used/made by Amstone and are used to move concrete.

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

JEEPN, would you have to strap the palate ON a palate to ship it? That would be funny, "Where is my stuff? You think someone would send me an empty palate"?!!!

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

I think that is a requirement for CCX that ALL shipments must be on a pallet. So yes, if you are "shipping" a pallet...your pallet WOULD have to be on a pallet.

Re: Where do I find a wooden palate?

drive around some industrial parks and look for them laying in piles. go to the door and ask if you can have one. they will usually say no. we have piles of them here at work, too bad i'm in Indy. you can also make one out of 2x4's and 2x6's if you need to. just keep in mind that a forklift will need to be able to move it. hope this helps! matt
