Shackles bent please help

I was looking at my shackles for my leaf springs up front and was seeing how tight they were.I noticed that my passenger side shackle was bent vertically. It may have been caused by me getting stuck this weekend and getting "front centered' In the mud.My front end was stuck on the other end of a bank.I know I will have to replace the shackle but does it need to be right now?How much do new shackles cost?Im thinking of just maybee replacing them all with a cheap shackle lift.Does the bent shackle cause any bad feeling driving?
Thanks

Re: Shackles bent please help

Surely if you drove home after getting stuck and didn't notice any difference, you could probably just check it over, and maybe jump on it a few times. If it seems to be stable, you can probably wait. Shackle lifts aren't the greatest way for lift, you will get alot of play when cornering and also makes the Jeep hard to control. Shackles are not expensive, and if you have a jack are pretty easy to replace. I would suggest replacing them with a heavy-duty set, and lifting the Jeep with springs.

stock shackles are $20 a pair. If you get replacement lift shackles be sure not to get the cheapo's.

Re: Shackles bent please help

Joey, do yourself a favor and by some heavy duty shackles, don't bother replacing with stockers. Many years ago I BROKE 3 stock shackles in a matter of months, I finally figured it out and bought ConFerrs, haven't had a problem since.

If your looking for the cheap way out. Go to the local boneyard. I had one that was just a little bent and got a replacent for $5....You may have to scrape the rust off and repaint, but that's no biggie...
