I would like to know what I should find on a '84 Scrambler with 4cyl.

Which tranny?(T-176,T-4,T-5)
What gears? (4.1)
Which Engine? (AMC,GM) How can I tell which one?

OK, in '84:

It would only have the AMC150, the GM151 wasn't offered in that year.

If it's a 5 speed, it's a T-5, if it's a 4 speed with a straight shifter, it's the T-176, if it has a curved shifter, it's the T-4.

As to the gear ratio, look up the rear axle code on ORC's site, it'll let you know what it is, or was stock.

It's a Jeep, Chevy, IHC kinda thing!
