HELP!!

I need a schematic diagram for my 90 YJ - just the "DOME" circuit. I have a short that has me dead - will not start. Anyone know where I can find a schematic - other than the dealer or library (checked both already)??

Re: HELP!!

I can get you a schematic of the Dome circuit, no problem. What I don't understand what you mean by having a short in your Dome circuit that is causing what not to start, your engine?" Typically in something like a dome or any lamp circuit attached to a fuse, if something sorts, you'll simply blow the fuse. A better description of the problem would help, I'll get ya what I can.

My Jeep is like my website ... I'm working on it.

Re: HELP!!

To explain the problem fully requires some long-winded story telling... My 2.5 was just replaced back in November. When I hit my 500 mile point, I decided to celebrate and do some minor 'froading. Well, to make a long story short, I crossed a stream in an unfamiliar place and wound up going in over the hood! After I pulled the submarine out, everything was pulled, fluids changed repeatedly, etc. She ran great. Then, it got cold here. When the temp. was below 20 F, the starter wouldn't turn over - just a click. So, I checked the battery (it's new), then the starter (lifetime warranty). The guys at AutoZone hooked a test light between the positive battery cable end and the positive post of the battery and the light would cycle - coming on for a second or so, then off for a like amount of time. As I've been told to do before, I pulled each fuse, one at a time, then checked the test light. When the DOME fuse was pulled, the light stayed off.
Now, to note the severity of the short: I can't even jump start my Jeep - I've tried using a 1000 CCA battery with the vehicle running. Everything has checked fine - the cables, ends, battery, starter, solenoid. When I get new mounting bolts for the starter, I'm gonna try to run it with the dome circuit unhooked...
Any suggestions are truly appreciated!

Re: HELP!!

Does the engine crank but not start or does it not turn over at all. I would think that before your dome circuit pulled enough current to prevent the engine from starting it would blow the fuse. I had a problem similar to yours once. Good battery, starter, solenoid and wires, the engine would crank but not start. It ended up being a bad air conditioning compressor clutch that was engaged, which interfered with the engine turning fast enough to start. Check to see if anything is interfering with your engine cranking.

Re: HELP!!

It doesn't turn over at all - that's why I thought the starter was bad. It gives me a click (solenoid) and then nothing.
