Quote on 8.8--is this ok?

I got a quote on a ford 8.8 axle--1996 explorer-3.73 gears, posi, 31 spline $450 delivered.
Then I'll need MORE adapter kit for $155
Quoted labor to swap $200
Then I'll need new gears and a locker of some sort--4.11's and either a spool or detroit.
Any advice before I start spending $$$$??

FOR SALE: D35, 4.11, posi.
John-89YJ-350V8,35" swampers,EFI,revolvers,shackle reversal, swaybar/tracbar disconnects,SYE,cv shaft,4.11,locked frontD30,rocklock,need ford 8.8 soon,2"body, TJ flares.

Where did you get that quote from? I junk yard? If so, I think that they need to drop the price. If you ever entend to do good wheeling with it your gonna have to get rid of that posi, and the 373's. The 4.11's and detroit are big bucks. See if you can get the price dropped if you don't get the guts.

For the MORE adapter kit.. Just Spend a few more bucks and call Tom Woods and have him make you a driveshaft, It will be alot stronger. If you need preches, go to your local Trailer shop, of welding shop, and they can tell you where to get perches really cheap.

Also see if you can find a buddie and go get the axle.
