4.0L starter on a 4.2L or an AMC V-8

anyone ever try this? i have an old 4.0 starter and thought about putting it the 401 i am building. they must be good starters, here is my story: my alternator went out in my 88 comanche 4.0 (at 80k, like all the others...)well, i couldn't find an alt. and had to order one. i ended up driving my truck daily thinking i would stop driving when it started slow. i also didn't go far from home, but did log a few miles, an entire tank of gas (around 250mi)! the battery/starter didn't even sound weak when i changed the alt. my thought is it must be fairly strong and have a low current draw. any thoughts, advice or recommendations are appreciated! matt
