why do men roll over?

I am a jeepchick and I am married to a jeep guy. I know of a lot of women who boss their men around by telling them what they can and can't do, who to hang around with and who they can't. I even know one who tells there man how much money he needs to earn and she doesn't even work. Women even tell their man what they can and can't own. I don't understand it but the men listen to the women. If the women says jump he asks how high, WHY????? I couldn't do that to a guy even if I wanted to. I guess I wasn't born with the gift or maybe it is because I have a conscience, I can't figure it out.

Re: why do men roll over?

Blame it on the nineties, lass. Men were pressed into the idea that in order to be "attractive" they needed to change their "Neanderthalic/Cro-Magnon" ways and become more sensitive (which really didn't mean sensitive, it meant more pliant, cooperative, push-over and whipped). This thought process wasn't as popular as the media made it out to be (after all, try and convince me that the majority of women really wanted patsies for husbands), but the media hasn't lately been known for doing what's right, just which bandwagon is the right one to jump on.
~~A note~~
Being understanding of your chick isn't a bad thing; letting her roll over you because you've been told it's the right thing to do is brainless. She doesn't like things of yours you just deal with it (ask my wife about my 68 Olds Toro). After all she's got some things you don't like either; next time, tell her about them.

My Jeep is like my website ... I'm working on it.

Maybe it's that they hate sleeping on the couch.

Re: why do men roll over?

Heck, my couch is a pretty nice place to sleep!

its the only full night of sleep I can get, no kids crawling into bed, no nagging, no reading a smut novel until 2 AM.

I think we sometimes roll over just because, often times its easier to take our lumnps than to take the fight, or the guilt trip. when your too tired to fight its easy to be agreaable.

or did you mean roll over in Jeeps?

maybe they should all use full width axles in the latter case

Re: why do men roll over?

I think somewhere along the line they were convinced that giving in like that was a sign of caring & respect. My wife tries to lay the guilt trip on me like that, but I don't go for it. On small things that I could give a rat's @ss about, I'll bend and let her have her way. On other things I bend to prove a point when I'm telling her the right way to do something and she insists that I'm wrong...let her trip, then bail her out. I can't tell you how many times neighbors and their friends and relatives have seen me out working on the project Jeep and commented that their wives would never let them do anything like that and that I'm lucky. My wife likes to rub that in my face, when the fact is that she really has no choice but to let me do what I'm doing. I don't tell her what she can & can not do, and I don't expect her to try that nonsense with me. Sex as a weapon/tool? Maybe some of you guys ain't doing something right. My wife will tell you point blank that she never does that. Her exact words are "Heck, why should I punish myself too" she wants some lovin' too It almost seems like an adult version of grade school where the little girls try to see how much stupid stuff they can get lovestruck little boys to do for them. I guess some men & women never get past this point.

Re: why do men roll over?

I've seen that situation and it always suprises me. If everything is working like it is supposed to, the marriage is a TEAM EFFORT. What that means is that each party recognizes that there ARE priorities and some degree of self-denial is indeed necessary. If you would really like to have eight different Jeeps in various stages of "undoing" then maybe you need to be single, because that is going to be a lopsided situation and not really a team effort. Having the other person's intrests formost in your mind actually facilitates getting YOUR needs met, whatever they may be. Chicks respond to being ignored, and they also respond to having you (give the appearance at least) of putting them first. What you do just depends on which response you want to get from your chick.

Re: why do men roll over?

I was wondering why Dancin Bear didn't have a serious comeback from Jeepn's comments....She must have taken care of that at home. Is this the first husband/wife team we've had on this BBS?...
