Oil in Air Cleaner

I'm getting oil in the air cleaner (4.2L '88 Wrangler.. carter carb). I'm positive that its coming from the CCV hose (goes to back/top of valve cover). Can get a litte more than a thimble-full in less than 2 weeks.

2 questions. 1st is obvious... what can I do?
2nd is that I'm replacing my Carter w/ a Weber in about 2 weeks. Should I have this problem fixed before I do it?

Thanks guys!

Re: Oil in Air Cleaner

First things first, it isn't called a ccv (they use that system on the 4.0 L fuel unjected jeep engine). Its a PCV system. The line a the back of the valve cover is the fresh air intake and the line at the front of the cover is were the PCV valve is, then it goes to the back of the carb. The idea is to ventilate all the crappy gases and to keep pressure from building in the crancase. If your pcv vac lines or your pcv valve is blocked pressure will build up and you will get blow-by(oil) going into your aircleaner. The first thing that I would do, after you have checked the lines, is get a new valve, they're pretty cheap. But for the amount that you are leaking I wouldn't worry about it cause if your lines are good and you have a new valve and it still does it then that means you piston rings aren't sealing all the way and to get a ring job is $$$$$. Hope this helps.

I need to get a girlfriend I'm getting to close to my jeep.

Re: Oil in Air Cleaner

If all your hoses are open and in proper condition and you still get the crap in the air cleaner you may consider hookin' up the offending hose to one of these thingies from Summit
