OT computer security/firewalls

To anyone concerned about internet security andfirewalls, only one
blocks intrusions and outgoing leaks. And that is
ZoneAlarm.Norton Internet Security nor one by McAffe
catches and stops what Zonealarm does.In fact i have been
online for about ten minutes now and have had 6 IMCP pings
and 3 port probe attempts. When set up correctly, zonealarm makes your computer
virtualy invisible to pings and port probes, instead of writting about
it here in detail, visit http://www.zonelabs.com its free for personal use.
Also vo to htp://www.grc.com and check your own computer for security
and find free software that will check for and delete spyware, look for
"leaktest" "Optout" and "Shields Up" for testing.

Yep - listen to the man. I get several pings and probes every hour. I was shocked at all the traffic - and at some of the outgoing traffic I had going on that I was completely unaware of using Black Ice Defender. A few of the probes come from BBS users - but I have found that most of the probes come from Toy board users. Go figure! That is one reason I don't like the fact that the BBS publishes your IP address with every post.

Yes , and when zone alarm is setup properly, you mearly click on "more info" and it takes you to a page that will do a whois on the tcp probe/ping.
Most of mine come from AOL and it does actually block the ping, port probe from even detecting that there is a computer
at that IP.
