Finding a Jeep TJ frame

Does anyone make aftermarket TJ frames? Or at least ones that will accept coil springs and stock TJ axles? Since I got to give up my TJ, I'd like to drop a fiberglass CJ7 tub (heck, maybe a CJ8) onto a TJ frame with a small block V8 and build me a play toy. If I was in the market for lets say a rolled TJ or one involved in a fire, where would I start looking? Anyone have any ideas? Can I talk to the insurance companies about trying to locate a wreaked/totaled TJ Wrangler? Anyone ever done this? A guy sold a TJ frame on Ebay with alittle front damage to it a few months ago for like $100-$200. I wished I would of jumped on that now! Would finding a TJ frame be like a wild goose chase? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Finding a Jeep TJ frame

Do a search on tj front clips, I think I saw a post on this subject a couple weeks ago. It had a link to a web site with wrecked tj's.

Re: Finding a Jeep TJ frame

4wd hardware offers new tj frames for $1775, taht's a lot but it's an original tj frame, or you could use a yj frame and a coil conversion kit.

Re: Finding a Jeep TJ frame

you know..... i bought my tj frame with the suspension, axles, bumpers...everything....for $150......the tub just about bolts on too..unfortunately, rubicon express in the only place you can get axle spring pads for coil springs, and they'll run $ when you start looking at 700 for spring perches, $1000 for a frame(realistically), 1800 for a coil lift, then the conversion stuff to get a v-8.....your looking at more than a 4 banger tj costs. my spring over flexes better than my tj with the rubicon express 4.5 super flex(but not a whole ton)..and it cost me about $40 in steel... i had enough left over to buy 2 detroit lockers.
if i had to do it again, i would use a yj frame... a lot less work in the end, and a good soa rides as well as the coils do.

Re: Finding a Jeep TJ frame

where could I get just the frame-mount coil-spring mounts? I am thinking about using a Cherokee/Comanche front suspension on all four corners of a little project.... Unfortunately it looks like I'd have to torch it all right out of the fenders and off the uni-body frame...

Re: Finding a Jeep TJ frame

i found a tj frame nearby for $700, they wanted 600 for each axle, i am awaiting to hear how much the brackets alone would be.
