I have a 1979 CJ-7 and I use it for ranch roads and some
harders trails to come. It will never be on the roads
in the snow. I want to lock the front end and was wondering
if a lincon locker be as strong as a lock right or power-trax? And most of all will they handle the same in 4x4 on
dirt trails. I"am thinkng when the Jeep goes into a turn on
a lose dirt road the the lock right type lockers act like a
spool any way. Sooo the Lincon locker would be cheaper but
if its prone to break I'll go the other way.
I think the lincoln will never disengage while a lockright will, it's easier to make turns with it in, if you have the dough get a lockright, another new oprion is the ox trax a selectable cable locker, kinda like an arb but no compressor.

I have had the D30 welded in the front of my 83 CJ5 for three years and like it allot. I took the carrier to Hicks 4X4 in Pomona CA and had them do the welding. From what I was able to find out you need to use nickel rod. My CJ has the 4.2 and is kinda low on HP but I do run 33 inch Swampers. Turning does suffer a little on tight dirt roads but rock seems to be less a problem.
