pto powered heater

the heater on my cj-7 works great when driving around town. it blows so hot you can hardly keep your hand in front of the vents, BUT when you are just sitting still, the heat gradually turns cool, then cold and the engine temp goes up almost like it runs off the t-case or something ( i know it doesn't) so what could be causing this? my best guess is that it is a problem with the water pump, but i have yet to crack it open to look at it. any guesses?

thanks all
shawn

Re: pto powered heater

Mabye your heater core is almost plugged. When your driving there is enough flow to push water through it but at idle there is not.
Something similar happened to an old truck I used to have. I would try flushing the heater core first and see what happens.

I also had this problem, I flushed the radiator and installed new thermostat works fine now! Must of had some blockage.
