Any Motorcraft carb experts out there?

I have a stock 2 bbl carb on my 302. I was wanting to drive it tonight (after sitting for two months). But when I press the gas pedal, the accelerator seems to stick. I thought it was the cable at first, but it sticks without the cable hooked up. It only sticks for a moment. Once I press hard enough, the carb works normal. I looked all over the outside for something to be rubbing, but nothing seems to be causing this problem. Is there a bushing or something that wears that causes an interferrence? I know very little about carbs. Is it possible for the butterflies to be hanging up on something?

Any thoughts?

I had a carb with the same problem, so I took a can of carb cleaner and sprayed it down good especially around the throttle linkage and spring, then sprayed the linkage down with WD-40 and it loosened up good..Not sure if that is your problem but maybe a good place to start.

Re: Any Motorcraft carb experts out there?

i have had several MC carbs do this, usually the throttle plates,i fixed some by lightly filing the offending edge off of the plate
where it contacts the carb venturi, made it sorta like how the face of a engine valve sits/fits into its seat
