President Bush Goes Wheeling?!

I had an idea that could make a huge impact on the
future of OHV use on public lands...if it can become a
reality. In September of 2001 the United Four Wheel
Drive Associations is having its 25th Anniversary bash
in Farmington, NM (my town, my club is going to do
some of the trails!). What if, some way, some how,
someone with the right connections were to get the new
President here for a little wheeling for a couple
hours. After all, this 25th Anniversary celebration
is a VERY big deal, 25 years of UFWDA is important.
You can imagine the support we would garner from the
new administration if we could make this happen, let
the Pres. see first hand what wheeling is all about.
Who knows, we could end up with the first rock
crawling president (once you do it its so incredible
you just can't stop!). Just a thought, I'd like some
feedback on this if anyone thinks its a good, or bad, idea.

Re: President Bush Goes Wheeling?!

Well Bush is vacationing here in my town, I say let my jeep club take him out and get him into the wheeling. It is raining today, it would be great to see a muddy president. I don't think the secret service will like it. Oh well

I'm sure that Chrysler would be all over that. Maybe your club could get Chrysler/Jeep to sponsor the event (or at least be a co-sponsor) so that it is first class (fit for the Pres).

Re: President Bush Goes Wheeling?!

From what I understand, Bush drives an early Bronco on his ranch. Reagan was a Jeep man. <img src=http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/net/biggrin.gif>

Re: President Bush Goes Wheeling?!

I just can't see the Secret Service letting that fly. They will warn the president of possible sniper attacks and possible injury from a lifted 4X4. He {the president} will most likley agree with the Secret Service, and not participate.

Just think of the Jeep that the Secret Service could build. It would probably be so heavy that the Interco Swampers would need to be custom made. Cool.

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five?

I'm sure the secret service would insist on run flat mud tires (which would be pretty cool).

Re: President Bush Goes Wheeling?!

That would be great to have him there, but let's face it. If he were to come for the festivities he would probably just have a Hummer delivered from the closest military base. His arrival would probably look more like a military invasion than a bunch of four wheelers.

Re: President Bush Goes Wheeling?!

Turns out Preston Stevens of the UFWDA and I had this same idea almost simultaneously. The seeds have been planted with the UFWDA BoD, there are some other dignitaries that are on the list including our new Interior Sec. This, or something like it will most likely be a reality in Sept.
