Who has that custom CJ Dash with gauge?

I remember a while ago, that somebody made a custom setup with their gagues. They built a steel box and cut a square hole in the dash, pushed the box into it on an angle and welded it in there. That way the gauges faced the driver.

Anybody have any pics? I currently have 6 or so gauges and would like to do something like what i saw.. I DID do a search but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks.

Re: Who has that custom CJ Dash with gauge?

Here's a thought... try to find a dash panel from an M38A1, then cut one large rectangular hole in the dash slightly smaller than the new panel and stick that baby in there. You can screw it down or use dzuz (sp?) fasteners. That's what I've done and I love it. Makes it really easy to get to the wiring etc under the dash and to install gauges etc. I drilled small holes in the front side of the old black out lights that are in the panel and use them as turn indicators. I'm just finishing up a complete rewire and having that removable panel has been a godsend. Disadvantages = you can only get 4 gauges in there and will need a new smaller speedometer.

I'm throwing in the instrument cluster from an airplane this way. Should look kinda neat with the altimeter, compass, wind speed, and artificial horizon. I'll let people know when I install it and take pics.
