What headers will fit on a 360 in a yj

I'm shopping for headers.. a 360 from 79 Wag on a YJ, I was told if I bought the ones listed for the Wagoneer 360 it might not fit because, well a wagoneer and a yj are different (duh) and apparently I might have to bring the exhaust out from the side of the jeep... I was also told I could buy some "shorties" and fit something to it to keep it inside the jeep.. As you can see I don't know sh?t about all that stuff, and would really appreciate some light on this...

well i do know the outside the frame headers will not work.. not sure about inside the frame headers.. they should work.. i used stock exhaust manifolds.. and it worked great.. they give you alittle more low end torque.. and keep a better seal.. not always blowing the gaskets out.. they also keep things alittle cooler..

Re: What headers will fit on a 360 in a yj

I just did a 360 swap in my CJ, and I stayed with the stock manifolds. The headers would give a little more at the high end or the rpm band, but are not as impressive at crawl speeds. They also leak, make it harder to change plugs, and heat up other things like starters. For me, they weren't worth the hassle. If you run a dual exuast with some Flowmasters or turbo mufflers, it will sound fine.
