what would i have to do to convert my 69 cj-5 to power steering? cheaply!!!

What you are seeing is where the original steering shaft was cut off and two u joint set ups were used to bend the steering up to the front of the Jeep. The Power gear is just a late 70's setup and is attached to the frame. You will need to make a bracket to get the gear to line up nicely against the frame. Then make the correct length tie rod and your set to go. Sounds easy and is but will take some time and planning.

Just do it the easy way.
get a copy of advance adapter catalog and copy it using junkyard parts.

I did my conversion with a later 70s front crossmember. we cut off a junk frames cross member and welded it on. Now that i painted my frame it looks real good. I didn't use the original steering column. I used an early 80's camaro and it fits real nice. i only had to tap the firewall mounting flange forward a little to fit. It is real nice now.
