ok figured it out the guy was wrong, its a 79' CJ-7, 3spd manual, so i figure its got a DANA 20 Transfer case, the D30 and D20 rear, and a 304 which he claims is a 360, any easy way to tell between the 304 and 360? thanks!
Tim's right you should be able to see a raised 304 or 360 on the side of the block under the exhaust manifold. Also don't let the guy convince you that he bored the 304 to a 360 or changed the crank. It's not possible to bore the 304 to the 360 dimensions and the 304 and 360 use the same crank. I believe you were also asking in a previous post about the tranny. Stock would be a T150 3 speed.
yep great big numbers.. right next to the engine mounts.. cant miss them.. and they are also right on the boring.. the water jackets were to inconsistant.. and more than likely would end up boring into one of them..
My 78 cj 7 is for sale if you are looking for a parts jeep. Or if you want you could take the two and combine them. It would make one hell of a Jeep. Mines got the same set up as yours 304/t-150/d-20, dana 30 front and amc 20 rear, plus some real nice touches from this decade. (tons of new stuf)Think about it.
