chevy engine swap. need details

currently:304/th400/d20 yep, im saving up for a chevy swap. probably from gm directly, i am seriously considering the 383ci w/ EFI. No, i don't have a cash tree, this wont happen till next fall or winter..but,i have heard rumors about some of gm's engines coming from Mexico and ****ty built. im supposed to give a gm vin number to get an american made motor or take my my long run goal is to put in a chev 383ci, then a nv4500 and of course and atlas t-case. $$cha-ching$$. If i cant drive this i might as well do it right the first time and wait a bit longer. another year or two won't kill me. difficult is the swap itself, what pitfalls am i looking for. i've only changed engines in camaro's and monte carlos replacing with the same motor for the most part. i have read that swapping in a chevy is a major headache...thanks fellas..

304/th400/ford 9" 6"lift 15x10/35's
