258 Oil Filter Upgrade?

Was at the store about to get a new filter for the 258 in my '75 CJ5 and got to thinking. Someone mentioned using a larger filter on the engine for increased holding capacity and more cooling. What model filters have anyone had experience with and how do you look up what will fit.....

Store was a little concerned seeing me open all the boxes...

Well, this "Bodes" well that you are thinking oil capacity. On our '97 ZJ with the 4.0, I had to do what you did and open boxes till I found the one which would fit. It turned out to be Fram PH8A which is the Mopar family filter. Our 4.0 had a filter the size of a coffee cup originally. One thing you got to watch out for is clearance. In our CJ 304 AMC V8 we cannot upgrade without a remote mount setup; the frame is too close.
