Front axle isn\'t turning

I have about 5" of lift on a 91 Wrangler. The rear driveline is stock (where is the best price for longer driveline). Anyway, the other day my rear driveline came off of the yoke then bent the rear strap and was laying on the ground. I drove on the front wheels for about a mile until they stopped working also. My front driveline now spins, even when in neutral, but the wheels do nothing. This sounds like a vacuum problem to me but I don't know where to start looking. All help is appreciated.

Re: Front axle isn\'t turning

Try Tom Woods for your drive lines. (Check any 4x4 magazine.) You need two, front and back after that much lift. Also, what about your brake lines, did you extend them? You need to.

Did the slip yoke fall out of the back of the x-case spilling the fluid? I think that it should have.

If not, to figure out what is going on with the front drive line, with the motor not running put the tranny in any gear and make sure that the x-case is in 4 wheel drive. Try both high and low. If the drive line still turns you may have a problem in the x-case as it should be controlling the drive line. If it does not turn, it may be a problem with the axle, perhaps the vacuum.

Good Luck!

if you want to see what's happening in the disconnect of the axle, there are only four bolts holding the cover on. a little fluid will drain out but not enough to worry about replacing. just have something to catch it with.
