PLEASE HELP (big transfercase problems)

I have a wrangler with a 350TPI, TH350, and a NP231 Transfercase. My problem is I am leaving for Florida this saturday and my case is making really bad noise. I have no front driveshaft so every once in a
while i put it in 4wd to move everything around inside. Well today i put it in 4HI and i heard a grinding noise, so i qiuckly through it back into N and shifted it into 4LO and it was fine no problems at all just
in regular 4HI it makes a hell of a noise. I live in NJ and will be moving to Florida on staurday, and need to know whats up and what to do. It goes fine in 2wd so if i just leave it in 2wd do you think it will be ok
Please help
THANK YOU
Corey

Re: PLEASE HELP (big transfercase problems)

how long has it had no front shaft, has it been runnin fine in 2wd for a while?

your noise may just be your t-case sayin it doesn't appreciate being run with unequal loads on the chain.

my take is that if it goes fine in 2wd and has been for a while, just drive down to FLA.

no reason to put it in 4wd anyway...wait, it's finally snowin!

anyhow, good luck and happy jeepin!
