Engine swap or 4.0 head and MPI for my CJ?

I would like to get rid of my Carter BBD and install fuel injection. Would it be cheaper to swap engines? Or should I get a 4.0 head and do the MPI upgrade? Is it possible to get a complete 4.0 head with intake/exhaust computer and fuel injection from another Jeep and install everything onto my 4.2? It seems like this would be the easiest swap but I haven't seen any write-ups. Does anyone know if this is possible? What vehicles could I get the heads and injection system from, what would be needed in addition to the usual 4.0 head conversion items. Has anyone tried this? I doubt that an engine swap would be less expensive due to necessary adapters unless a 4.0HO would bolt directly to my T-176.

Thanks,
Tom

I decided not to buy the rusty CJ, so I am going to put the money in to my current Jeep.

Go for a complete swap. It is cheaper. I picked up a 4.0 for $700. After the bellhousing adapter and all other expenses, I probably have $1200 total. And it runs great!<img src=http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/net/biggrin.gif>

Hey Bob,
Do you know if I would need an adapter for my T-176 bellhousing?

Thanks,

I know of two sites that will give you plenty to read before making your decision:

Jaffer's (from this board) site: http://www.monsterslayer.com/jeep most complete site for 4.0 head swap.
Jefe's site: http://homepage.mac.com/jefe/ (this one covers the 4.0 swap, mpi, and 4.0 head swap.
