Stuck Valve It Is !!!!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the advice. I just pulled the cover and sure enough the # 1 cylinder has a stuck valve. It is the 2nd valve in (from the front) and the one with the longer pushrod. It is stuck completly compressed and i couldnt free it. The push rod was just kinda laying in its hole not connector to the rocker, must have fallen out of place when the spring compressed and move the rocker.

Time for a 4.0L head and EFI

Thanks Again

Re: Stuck Valve It Is !!!!

The reason you can't get it back up is it stayed down long enough to meet Mr. Piston.
It's not coming up again.
The only way to get rid of it is to punch it out down through the bottom.
Just grind through the spring, it's already shot, and you will have to get rid of it to get the valve locks out.

If the valve didn't crack the head, the head may still be good, but I never trust pistons after they have contacted valves (or anything else for that matter!)

The rods are usually unaffected, so it's probably salvageable.

Don't let your engine get scrapped, too may Jeepers looking for reasonable priced cores for rebuild!
