Master Cylinder Pushrod Length for CJ5

I have the disk brakes and the master cylinder for a 77 CJ7. I am installing it on a 76 CJ5, but I don't know if I have the right length pushrod. Does anyone know the proper length that the pushrod needs to be? How do I know if it is wrong? Thanks.

Re: Master Cylinder Pushrod Length for CJ5

The pushrod should be shortened until it almost touches the master cylinder as you slide it in place. A tiny clearance is required. It should not depress the master cylinder piston, nor have excessive play. That's what a brake shop told me (the one that did up the GM dual diaphragm booster).

Re: Master Cylinder Pushrod Length for CJ5

Try to send a message to FlMudCJ. He's a great friend of mine and he upgraded his CJ-5 to power brakes from another 5....and i KNOW he had to fiddle with the pushrod....try messaging him, but it may take him a while to get back to ya, he's on the road now...

Give me Jeep or Give me Death!!!

(Will trade functioning organs for CJ-7 or flatfender)
