Seeking info on \'74 Cherokee

Sorry for posting this here guys, but the full-size Jeep BBS is like a ghost town, and I'm sure some of you here will be able to help me. I recently bought a '74 Jeep Cherokee with a 401ci V8, TH400, Quadratrac, and 6-lug Dana 44s front and rear

Is there any other x-fer case out there that I can swap in to replace the quadratrac? I don't mind swapping the rear axle too if I can no longer use the offset D44.

If my options are slim I'll probably part the truck out. Is the 401 a direct swap in all CJs or only those that came stock with the 304?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Seeking info on \'74 Cherokee

A model 20 transfer case was stock in '74, the Quadratrack was the option. You should be able to find a waggoneer or J-10 with an automatic and 20 transfer case, of course it will require a rear end swap.

good luck, jjc

Re: Seeking info on \'74 Cherokee

Thanks for the reply jjc. Will I require the transmission out of the Wag or J10 as well, or will a model 20 bolt up to my TH400?
