Suggestions for paint scheme.....

Anybody have any suggestions on where I can get some ideas on my future paint scheme? I was originally planning on having a buddy paint it a solid blue in his paint shop. But now his shop has closed. And another buddy has convinced me that he and I put together equal superman, and can do anything. So.... I was hoping to find a bunch of pics or something that might click something in my head as to what I want. I'm really leaning toward scallops, sort of like SPOOK2 painted his wife's CJ. But I'm really just looking for ideas..

......[i][b]ANYBODY??!!

Re: Suggestions for paint scheme.....

Well you asked............
My buddies SOA w/2"springs on 35's flatfender CJ7 is getting a facelift before spring.
I told him I'd paint it for him. He started talking about shades of silver.
I hate silver because it's one of the hardest colors to paint.
To make a long story short I talked him into wild. Kawasaki green and blue.
I think it looks awsome.
It's not for everybody though.
Here's a pic I did to show him what it would look like.
BTW I don't know who's jeep this is.
I scabbed it somewhere.

Re: Suggestions for paint scheme.....

My personal favorite is a soft powder blue tub. Dark blue frame. Black roll bar, bumpers, wheels, ect. I really like being surprised when I pop the hood. I like to see stainless braided hoses and lots of yellow and orange. I wanta see see some flash under the hood and underneath the body. Something the casual observer won't ever see or appreciate but the "hard-core" will take a step back and say, "Wow. Nice job."

It's a mess, but here's your yellow (now red) and stainless.
This is all junkyard crap that I found.
There's no way I'd BUY pretties to put on a jeep. The stainless is a nice addition for the "wear" factor though.

Re: Suggestions for paint scheme.....

You have one of the most desirable years for a CJ5 . Do yourself a favour and paint it DEEP NIGHT BLUE METALLIC
( a factory CJ color)or something like that and go to a decal shop and get the RENEGADE decal package made and slap em on . My buddies sister has a decal machine and they are cheap to get made , not like the 400 bucks Collins Bros. want for them . Just my opinion and it`s what I will be doing . There is a Deep Night Blue 1980 CJ5 Renegade in town here and I DROOL everytime I see it , looks so sharp !!
Below is a factory brown 79 w/ stock Renegade colors , looks sharp !

Re: Suggestions for paint scheme.....

When I repaint mine I'm going to use the old American motors thing and do the front third of the jeep red the middle third white and the remainder blue.

Re: Suggestions for paint scheme.....

i myself prefer the spray paint job.. .. i use my jeep to much to spend tons of cash on that.. and if you take your time.. and do the job right.. will turn out nicely.. people cant believe i did mine with krylon spray paint.. its pretty sweet.. no runs..

Re: Suggestions for paint scheme.....

Some friends of mine came up with the best camo scheme yet. They get about four different colors of spray-paint, chosen to match the areas fauna. They spray the whole truck with one color, then take branches, leaves, etc, and hold them on the body and spray around them. They do this a couple times with different colors, all over the truck. They blend in incredibly well down here! I don't own anything with a paint-job so screwed up that I'd resort to that though...not yet!
