commando body on cj-5 frame?

anyone ever know of anyone doing this? Will it work. The axles, motor, and frame are junk on the commando but the body is in great shape. The cj-5 running gear is fine but the body is gone. What do you think??

Re: commando body on cj-5 frame?

If the CJ in question is your '74, it has a wheelbase of 84". You don't specify whether you're referring to a Kaiser Jeepster Commando or the AMC Commando. The Kaiser wheelbase was 101", while the AMC was 104". Now if you had a CJ-6 frame, you'd be set as the Commandos shared the same frame wheelbase as the CJ-6. Anything can be done with enough ingenuity, time, patience and money.
