Re: This sounds like a good deal

It'd be a nice deal if the shipping didn't kill you and you needed the parts. I wonder if it has a T-18????

Re: This sounds like a good deal

Thats exactly what I was wondering..I emailed him and asked him and he wasnt sure. All I wanted was the tranny because you guys said it would be a lot lower geared than my way to fast t-150 offroad.ARE t-18s 3 speeds?

Re: This sounds like a good deal

Nope, the T-18 is a four-speed gearbox. If you can figure out whether or not this guy's tranny is a T-18 or find another one, make sure it has the 6.32:1 first gear if low range is what you are looking for.

Re: This sounds like a good deal

Yes it's a 4 speed, the only one offered in 1977, which was the 6.32:1 tranny, the 4:1 ended in 1975. So if it is a 4 speed, and if it's stock, then it's the one and you should snag it quick. If not, occasionally people look for a decent starting project, or even individual components, did you know a working T-150 (3 speed) goes for $500!? Yep, some people just want their jeep back running again, and stock, and they'll pay to do it. If you can get it, shag it.

Re: This sounds like a good deal

That sucks! He said it was a 3 speed. My three speed was rebuilt about two years ago and I dont think the guy who rebuilt the cj put any miles on it.He bought it for his son he said and the dad got some stuff fixed for him.Well the son moved to ny and the dad didnt even know where. He was telling me it would be a really fun toy..so I doubt it was really ever used that much. The clutch still feels brand new and hard to push in!
