Okay, this is something I've noticed on my 4 cylinder in the last couple of months so I'm pretty sure it's not just winter stuff. Upon start-up it makes some kind of hissing sound, that doesn't really go away when after the engine warms up. I recently changed the coolant, but didn't have the stuff to back flush the system. Should I have it back flushed or is this a normal TJ 4 banger sound? The engine temp is right about at normal. I've gotten pretty used to it, just wondering if it's bad or, is it something else entirely. Any advice is much appreciated.
The TJ's have a common problem where the head of the front manifold bolt breaks off leaving the stud in the block. This happened on my girlfriends TJ 2.5. If this is the case, Jeep actually extended the warrenty to 7 years, 70K miles so you can get it fixed for free! Hope this helps.
I'll have a chance to disect it a little tomorrow(depending on how freezing it is) But I'll check the exhaust, that's something I didn't even think about yet, and I *think* I had the head bolt fixed a few years ago. Thanx guys and I'll get back to ya's
