258 exaust manifold year swap info

Will my 84 exaust manifold bolt right on to my 81 head?

Im swapping in a 81 motor with 57K orig miles to replace the one in my 84 CJ
The PO broke off a exaust pipe stud and I have to replace the manifold with the trucks orig.
Want to make sure that it will work between years
And what gasket (year) should I ask for at the counter

Re: 258 exaust manifold year swap info

From what I can tell from the 4WD Hardware catalog and the two engines that I have is the cut-off year is 1980. Exhaust manifolds from '72 to '80 are same. They actually bolt to the intake under the carb. '81 to '90 are different. The common area here is a tube going from the EGR setup to the intake. BTW my '85 engine does not have air tubes at each runner. Maybe some years did. It has the Pulse air system.
