Re: Targa Top

I guess my question is what jeep is it going on? CJ, YJ, TJ? I bought one for my 97 TJ, and is was kinda nice compared to the soft top I was driving with, but the wind noise comming from the top of the windshield to the top was nearly as loud as the soft top. You might think is is cool to take off that front section but I just found it to be a pain, and it just made for a couple more holes to drill for mounting. Maybe it is better on a different type of jeep. But when I tried to tighten the top to get rid of all the wind noise I just ended up cracking the fiberglass. The upper half hard doors that I ordered with it fit ok, but gave a lot of wind noise also. So I don't think I would recommend the steel horse top. In fact, some of the Jeep GOO Roo's I have talked to have told me to stay away from anything with the name steel horse. When I tried to call to get the top fixed or returned the company I ordered it from and Steel Horse would do nothing for me. But this is just my bad experience, hopefully some more people will post some replies on this particular top to give more input.

Re: Targa Top

Sorry, I have a 2000 Sport. I live near Four Wheel Drive Hardware, they are a mail order company that deals in Jeep parts, and they sell Steel Horse tops and the guy I talked to said Steel Horse has made some improvements in the last couple years. I know he is trying to sell me something but I looked at the top and it looks well made.

Re: Targa Top

Another option you might want to consider is the best top hard top it's got the removable front too if you really want to spend the extra money. If you are looking for a cheep hard top try pulling one from a salvage yard or searching e-bay, think about it you could get enough extra money to get a winch and a hard top.
