Meyer plow mounting on CJ-7

As if I don't already have enough oars in the water, I picked up a used Meyer (non power angle) plow yesterday from another Jeeper who got it on a used Jeep he bought some time ago. Needless to say, he doesn't quite remember how to mount it and I'm pretty much clueless beyond mounting the light rig. I've got two good-sized brackets with pins and bolt holes in them that apparently mount to the frame somewhere and two plate that go with them with matching bolt holes to sandwich the frame...these hold up the rear of the plow frame. Up at the front of the plow frame, I've got a smaller set of brackets with rubber block bushings in them and holes that macth up with holes in the plow frame...again, no idea where to put these. There's an arm on the light rig and I presume that one end of the pump mounts to the rig itself and the other mounts to this arm...but what mounts to the plow in order to raise & lower it with the pump? Any clues, tips, help appreciated.

Re: Meyer plow mounting on CJ-7

Most setups i've seen usually have a hydraulic ram that is bolted to a lever, and on the end of that lever a hook type device for a chain. that chain is bolted to the plow frame and is what lifts it up.

Okay, that makes sense. I remember there being a chain still attached to the plow, so that must go to the lever/arm on the light rig. Thanks.

Thanks, Jim. That'd be great. I'm sure I can figure it out once I see it on a vehicle.

Re: Meyer plow mounting on CJ-7

We needed information about mounting our plow (that is a CJ7 setup) up to our J10 pickup (need a different piece)
Meyer was VERY helpful and faxed us a diagram very expediently. All we did was call
Their phone # is (216) 486-1313. Get the diagram, then you will have it for good.

Good luck!

Re: Meyer plow mounting on CJ-7

Just got it and it looks like the guy I bought it from gave me the wrong frame!! I've got the correct lift frame portion, but lower portion that the plow attaches to appears to be for a different vehicle.

Re: Meyer plow mounting on CJ-7

If you need some pictures I can take some tomorrow.
I made my lower mounts when I added a lift to my 72 CJ-5 due to lack of axle to mount clearance.
If you are using a shackle reversal I am not sure if it will work without modification.
if I can help e-mail me direct.
