Ford Hub And Rotor Swap Completed!!!

Hey Guys,

I just finished the Ford hub and rotor converion on my Front Scout 44 using the parts below:

76 Chevy Blazer Spindles
84 Ford Bronco Hubs
84 Ford Bronco Rotors
79 Jeep Wagoneer Caliper

This is much cheaper, bigger, beefier and stronger than stock and many pics will come soon.

Total cost was under $200 check the site for details. I bought Everything brand new but the spindles.

Check it out at:

enjoy !

Re: Ford Hub And Rotor Swap Completed!!!

i have a question.. how did you get the chevy spindles on the scout knuckle? the scout is 8 bolt and the chevy spindle is 6 bolt.. or did you change the knuckle?
also people with the scout d44.. can replace most of the parts with 78-80 cj parts for cheaper.. and they are the same.. with the use of some ford calipers.. which are huge.. and only 10 bucks..

<font color=green>I may not like what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.<font color=red>

Re: Ford Hub And Rotor Swap Completed!!!

I have a question about spindles. I just picked up my d44 from a narrow trac 76 wagoneer. According to your spindle pic, the jeep spindles I have should work with the ford hubs and rotor, correct? Your right about finding that chevy spindle, I searched 4 bone yards today, and could only find chevy's with the 10 bolt front axle.

***** Yes, you wil notice on my site i am using flat top dana44 knuckles from a old J truck. They are 6 bolt and the flat tops are needed for my high steer

***** Yup. I went with the chevy/ford setup for the beef. These things are HUGE!!!

Any questions feel free

***** They should be. Jeep is famous for mixing and matching parts though. If you want, send me a pic to [email protected] and i will tell ya for sure.

***** Yup, i tried 3 yards here and 3 weeks of hardcore net searching to find a set.

good luck, any questions feel free

Re: Ford Hub And Rotor Swap Completed!!!

i would have to disagree with you on that brian.. when i did my conversion.. i looked at many 10 bolt spindles infact have 2 in the shed.. and even did alot of cross referencing in the auto store.. they use different outer bearings than a d44.. it should be a pre 77 chevy (gmc) front axle is what you need.. about half way thru the 77 year they switched over to 10 bolts..

Re: Ford Hub And Rotor Swap Completed!!!

Correct Jeepgod,
The 10 bolt spindels will bolt up to D44 knuckles. But the 10 bolt spindle has larger diameter bearings than the D44 Ford Hubs. You have to find the older Chevys with D44s to use as a donor for spindels. The Ford spindels dont work well, because they do not place the rotor in the propper position to go with the Chevy style caliper brackets, which need to be used if your going to use the flat top knunckles for high knuckle steering(the Ford Brakes attach to an intregal bracket on the knuckles).

Re: Ford Hub And Rotor Swap Completed!!!

Well I pulled the spindles off today, and they look exactly like the one you have circled on your webpage. They measure 6.5". I will have pics available on Monday night.
