keep breaking left motor mount on my 258

Once again, for the third time i have broken the left side (driver side) motor mount. Am I missing something here? They have a lifetime warranty so it doesn't cost me anything but my time. Maybe I should upgrade to something else!
Ideas?

Yep, the 258 engine's toqrue will quickly rip up mounts, especially if you have larger tires. M.O.R.E. makes a great set of motor mounts. However, if you don't want to go that far... cut a short lenght of chain. Make the length enough for the motor mount to stretch a bit... but not to tear away. Now chain it from top to bottom accross the motor mount.

What brand of mounts do you have? I thought all of the poly mounts had an interlocking feature which prevented them from tearing apart. Just wondering.

Re: keep breaking left motor mount on my 258

I've gone thru more mounts than I can remember in 15 years, that 258 is heavy, long and torquey. Standard, non-poly mounts usually have the interlock, but all that does is prevent the mount from coming completely apart, the motor will still flop around. As for the "Bomb Proof" MORE mounts, they are $150+, I can buy a lot of stock mounts at $7 apiece for that price. Strange but true, NAPA mounts are only $7, Checker and Autozone $12! I just bought a pair from NAPA for the new motor which is in the process of being installed! Thought about buying the poly mounts, but the $60 price tage turned me off too. Also, poly ones transfer engine vibration more than rubber.

How about the torque arm on the bottom of the tranny. Got one? or maybe check those mounts or go with a longer arm?
