Why do header manu\'s paint headers only for the damn paint to burn off???This really sucks

I just put my headers on, started it up and then smoke. The paint is bubbling up on the pipes, my friend told me it is just the paint they use. My peve is why do they put that crap on when they know it is going smoke like hell and burn off. Now i have to live with a rolling smoke screen for a little while.
Sorry I had to rant.

I got some stainless steel header paint from a company recommened by someone on this forum a month agao...maybe do a search if you're interested, I can't remember right now, but it worked great and cost $14 for a quart and I still have over half left. check a search under header paint. I will attach a picture of my headers.....ohhh...I think it was eastwood company online.

Actually Dan, it is so you get that "New Engine" smell like you get when you fire that big stroker for the very first time and the paint burns off the manifolds. It's sort of a hot rod tradition.....not much more.

I used por 15 motor paint and it worked good. The first time I put a set of headers on a car and cranked it up, I thought I blew the motor with all that smoke coming out of it.

I think they may paint them to prevent rusting while they are sitting way up high on a shelf somewhere....who knows?
