NP207 vs. NP231

Does anyone know if the 23-spline input gear from the NP207 is interchangable with the gear from the NP231. Is it the same part number??

Re: NP207 vs. NP231

For anyone who needs this info., I found out by taking the NP207 transfer case apart. The two input gears DO NOT match.
I guess I have to buy a 23-spline input gear now. Bummer!

Re: NP207 vs. NP231

What is the difference between the two input shafts? NP-207s had 21-spline shafts behind Manuals and 23-spline input shafts behind Automatics. NP-231s were the same way until 1990 I believe, when they all went to 23-spline shafts since the AX-15 replaced the BA-10...

Restoring a '74 DJ-5C It was running good, so I messed with the carb to make it run better. Now it wont run at all!

Re: NP207 vs. NP231

The NP-207 input gear is a flat gear and the NP-231 uses a smaller (dia.) helical gear. Otherwise they are the same with respect to the input shaft dia., i.d., and length.
