SB Chevy with the TF 999

Has anyone put a SB Chevy in front of the TF999 do they make a cable or something for the downshift to hook up to the carb im thinking of converting since I have a relativly fresh 305 sitting in my garage doing nothing and the 258 is getting tired

Please send pictures when you get those two bolted together. The 258 and 305 have different bolt paterns. The case from a 151 would work though.

But advance adapters makes an adapter to bolt them together

Re: SB Chevy with the TF 999

i think there are a few years in the early XJ era where they used a TF tranny with a 2.8 GM engine, so that case would work too, it would even have a 23 spline rear output adapter to a dana 300 on it.

Re: SB Chevy with the TF 999

This wasnt a question of the case it was a question on how to make the mechanical downshift work since Chevy used a cable where AMC used a rod

Re: SB Chevy with the TF 999

If AMC had a 2.8 in front of a TF, then its possible right?

just mate that "rod" to your carb just like it was on an AMC engine, I cant imagine the rod knowing the difference in engine manufacturers.

Or you can buy a cable downshift linkage for the TF trannys from LOKAR
