Any tips for replacing the rubber brake lines?

Time to redo the brakes. How do you get the rubber brake line off? I think I will destroy the other one (the small steel brake like attached to the proportioning valve) cause they are kinda seized together. Am I going to have to fork over $170 and get new lines also, or is there a trick to getting the lines apart? Thanks

Re: Any tips for replacing the rubber brake lines?

Use a good penetrating oil and let it sit overnight.
Use the proper (line) wrench.
Loosen the P valve off the frame if needed to get the wrench wholelly on the nut.
(I used a couple of paint stir sticks under the P valve and frame then snugged it back down to get good wrench clearance when reinstalling my lines to the mounted P valve on my '83 CJ-7.)
Cross your fingers, you only get one good chance of loosing the nuts before they round off.
Last resort is to use a vise grips, then splice in a new line splice piece from your local parts store.
Someone else will have to advise and/or caution you if want to try heat or other methods....
