Intake

O.K., so I removed the intake/exhaust manifold and replaced the gasket and installed a Weber K551 carburetor kit. Now the 258 runs great! Only one problem. When I rev. to 1800 rpm antifreeze coolant squirts up near the #1 bolt where the exhaust manifold mates to the head.
Gaskets (both intake and exhaust) are new, found no cracks, torqued bolts according to Chilton's manual.
What now??

Re: Intake

That bolt goes into the water jacket.... remove it, put some sealant on the threads and replace it... drive and be happy...

Re: Intake

Larry, you just saved me several hours of work! My thought was to remove the intake and exhaust manifolds and check the gasket.
I like your thought much better!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Butch
