Re: BIG Texas style winch

Kinda funny, my scrambler had one on it just like that when i bought it...If it hadnt burnt all the cables off of it, It would work good on my 4-wheeler.Itcame with a heavy duty winch plat also, must've outwieghed the winch by 12lbs or more!!

Hehehe...that's for when you run out of gas in the city. You hook on to light posts or parking meters and winch yourself home or to the gas station. Only works on flat land...not for use in San Francisco or other coastal cities.

Re: BIG Texas style winch

Kinda like the 2000# hand cranked boat winch I had bolted to the front of the DJ-5D I used to have..... but hey, it got me unstuck a couple of times, and at least I had the excuse that it was free.....

Re: BIG Texas style winch

If it wasn't in Texas I'd say it was for a snowplow. It looks like there are brackets on the front for a plow and winch would be used to raise and lower it. I've seen that set up a thousand times, you don't need a big winch just to lift up a plow. Thats what I'm thinkin it's used for, and I'm from Canada so I know my snowplows!

Re: BIG Texas style winch

I went to Austin on a business trip about 4 years ago. From what I remember, that winch should just about do it . I went “mountain biking” there down a dried out river. The biggest hill was up the river bank. No offense to the Texans in the crowd, just made me chuckle.
